Title-chasing Tusker FC raid Uganda for midfielder Dennis Iguma
By Lutta Njomo, January 31, 2025Tusker FC have confirmed the acquisition of highly talented midfielder Dennis Iguma from Kampala’s Police FC on a one-year deal.
In a statement on Friday, January 31, 2025, the Brewers indicated that the 31-year-old midfielder would bolster their squad as their charge for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title enters its crucial stage.
Iduma boasts of a wealth of experience from both Uganda’s Premier League and the national team. He is renowned for his tenacity in the middle of the park and the ability to excel at both breaking up opposition attacks and controlling the pace of the game.

Tusker’s new acquisition is also highly regarded for his leadership and defensive acumen which are expected to add stability and strength to Tusker’s midfield patterning with the likes of Chris Erambo who has so far established himself as a mainstay in the Brewers side.
Charles Okere’s reaction
Addressing Tusker FC media, gaffer Charles Okere spoke highly of Iguma revealing that he once trained alongside him during his time in Uganda.
Okere who took over the leadership mantle from Robert Matano, maintained that Iguma’s acquisition was expected to provide depth to his team which is currently sitting second on the FKFPL log but tied on 36 points with Kenya Police FC.
The youthful tactician expressed confidence that Iguma would add the oomph in their bid to dethrone the defending champions, Gor Mahia.

“He’s a player we’re familiar with, having trained with him during our time in Uganda. With his wealth of experience, he will provide much-needed depth to our young squad. His leadership qualities are exceptional, and we’re confident he will be a great asset to the team,” Charles Okere told Tusker’s media.
The same sentiments were shared by the club’s Chief Executive Officer Sam Nzau who expressed confidence in Iguma’s ability to influence the dressing room and cultivate the winning culture in the dressing room.
“We are thrilled to have a player of Dennis Iguma’s calibre with us. Since his arrival, he has shown great positivity, and we are certain he will strengthen our squad as we pursue our goals this season. His experience and leadership, especially in the second half of the campaign, will be invaluable.”

Iguma, who has earned 63 caps for the Ugandan national team, has already begun training with the squad. Pending the completion of final ratification processes, he will be available for selection immediately.
Ogam’s future
The acquisition of a new midfielder comes at a time when Tusker is battling to keep their in-form striker Ryan Ogam who is linked to Algerian club USM Alger.
Ogam has been one of the sparks in the 2024/25 FKFPL season having scored 15 goals in 14 appearances for his side to lead the race for the golden boot.

It is not yet clear if Ogam will leave the club to join USM Alger as he has been instrumental to Tusker’s season so far.
