Talent displayed at primary school athletics in Narok

The 44th Primary Schools Athletics Games Championships started at the Narok’s William ole Ntimama Stadium with officials calling for nurturing of young talents for future success.

In the hotly-contested competition, Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association (KPDSSA) Chairman Ben Ochieng says that the renowned athletes in the country passed through the primary athletics competition to realize the dreams they are living now.

“It is time to showcase young Kenyans identified at this National arena. Majority of our great sportsmen and women passed through this particular level, of primary schools games so that they can be spotted and re now living their dreams,” said Ochieng.

Ochieng retarated that athletics prowess and academic accomplishment go hand in hand adding that sports reveal the children’s character.  Last year, according to Ohieng, the team managed to travel to neighbouring Arusha, Tanzania for the East African games and will be headed to Kigali, Rwanda.

The championships were officially opened by the Deputy Director, Education (Primary) Kurati Moses who called on the officials to uphold integrity to ensure that pure talent that will represent the country on the international arena.

Other government officials present during the event include Narok County Commissioner Mr Isaac Masinde who assured the teachers, pupils and officials from the eight counties of security as they stay in the county.
