Shujaa outwit Germany to book place in Safari 7s final

Shujaa are on course to defend the Safari 7s title after a hard-fought 19-5 victory against a resilient Germany, securing their place in the final at RFUEA Grounds.

Germany took an early 5-0 lead by scoring in the final minute, but Shujaa turned the tide in the second half.

Vincent Onyala made a decisive break, racing for a try that was successfully converted, giving Shujaa a 7-5 lead.

The team extended their advantage when Patrick Odongo’s offload set up Tony Omondi for a try, though the conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

Brian Mutugi, entering the game from the bench, sealed the victory for Kenya 7s with a try. Although Kevin Wekesa‘s try did not count, the mission was accomplished.

In the first semi-final, Samurai secured a thrilling 21-19 win against Uganda, scoring in the final moments. The teams were tied at 7-7 at halftime, with Alex Aturinda’s converted try for Uganda matched by a response from Samurai.

Shujaa opponents win in style

The second half saw Adrian Kasito break for a try, giving Uganda a 19-14 lead. However, Samurai launched a late attack from their red zone, scoring a centre-post try for an easy conversion and securing a 21-19 victory.

Kenya 7s is now set to face Samurai in the Safari 7s final, promising an exciting clash for the title defense.
