Shujaa co-captain Ooro declares readiness for Vancouver stop

Kenya Seven rugby player George Ooro has declared the team’s readiness for their next assignments in Vancouver Canada.
Shujaa are angling for the fourth stop of the Seven series with their engagements set to kick off on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
The side finished ninth in the Perth series and will be eager for improvement ahead of the fresh assignment in America.
Upbeat
Ooro, who retained his berth as co-captain alongside Samuel Asati in coach Kevin Wambua’s squad, took time off the team’s preparations on Wednesday, to update on the upbeat mood in the team’s camp.
“We are ready…To our fans in #Vancouver7s let’s make history together. Always for God, for Kenya, for our families and to us..,“ Ooro said.
Coach Wambua on Wednesday, February 18, 2025, took the team through its paces in what was their first training session in Vancouver.

The Strathmore Leo’s ace also rallied the Kenyan fans to make their presence a factor in pushing the team forward.
“To our fans in #Vancouver7s let’s make history together. Always for God, for Kenya, for our families and to us.”
Meanwhile, the Seven team revealed a dedicated stand for Kenyan fans will be in Section 234-235 of the BC stadium. The announcement comes after a fine showing from the fans earned Kenya as the best fans in the last stop in Perth, Australia.
Designated stand
“3 days to kickoff for #HSBCSVNSVAN. To our fans in Canada, your designated stand is Section 234 & 235 (General Admission). Let’s turn up, get loud, and back our lads,” a statement from Shujaa stated.

Reflecting on the team’s preparations, Coach Wambua highlighted the squad’s commitment over the past fortnight as they fine-tuned their approach ahead of the crucial tournament.
“The past week in camp has been incredibly intense, with every player making a strong case for selection. This competitiveness has significantly raised our training standards, refining key aspects of our game.
“We fell just eight points short of a quarter-final spot in Perth. This time, we have meticulously adjusted our strategy, with a strong emphasis on game management, particularly in the final three minutes. Our set-piece execution, as well as our attacking and defensive structures, have been sharpened to ensure a more clinical performance,” Wambua noted.
Vancouver fixtures
Kenya kicks off their travails on Saturday, February 22, 2025, with a clash against Argentina.
Former series winners France will offer the second test for coach Wambua’s men at 5:13 AM, before wrap up their group stage matches on Saturday night against a tricky Uruguay side.
