Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Shabana FC have vowed to identify and penalise fans for disruptive behaviour.

Shabana’s promise to take action against their own fans comes after FKF raised concerns about the fans of the Premier League debutants.

FKF’s warning

The FA cited their own security reports that indicated Shabana fans throw objects onto the pitch during celebrations.

“FKF would like to bring to your attention a matter of great concern regarding the behaviour of a section of sour fans during recent FKF-PL matches.

“It has been noted and reported by the FKF Safety and Security department that there have been instances of a section of your fans throwing objects and invading the pitch during celebrations, which are both dangerous and disruptive to the game,” FKF said.

Now Shabana have acknowledged the support they get from their fans but have cautioned against disgruntled fans.

“It’s been over 3 months since our promotion back to the FKF Premier League. With reference to the letter from FKF, concerns have been raised about the behavior of a section of fans during our matches, both at home and away.

“At Shabana FC, we are really proud of our devoted and enthusiastic fan base. Your support sustains our team and inspires our players to perform at their highest level,” Shabana said.

Shabana’s call

The National Super League champions have called on their fans to control their emotions during intense matches.

“However, we must stress that this support must be used in a constructive and courteous way.

“We are aware that feelings can get intense during goal celebrations, but we appeal to each fan to keep in mind the principles that guide our team. We will be implementing stricter measures to identify and penalize individuals or branches involved in disruptive behavior during our matches,” it added.

Shabana want the fans to celebrate in a manner that inspires the team.

“Let’s celebrate the sports we all love and support our players in the most positive and uplifting way possible.

“By doing so, we can create an atmosphere that inspires our team and makes every fan proud to be associated with Shabana FC,” the statement concluded.

Shabana have struggled since the start of the new season and only have one win from six games.
