Shabana threatens to take action over circulation of fake jerseys

By , August 26, 2025

Football Kenya Federation Premier League outfit Shabana FC has raised alarm over the increasing circulation of counterfeit fan merchandise in the market.

In a joint statement with their official kit manufacturer, MAFRO Sports released on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the club strongly condemned the production and sale of fake kits, warning that the practice undermines the integrity of the club and deceives genuine supporters.

According to the statement, the unauthorised production of counterfeit violates intellectual property rights but also cheats loyal fans who wish to support their team by purchasing official merchandise.

The club and its partners stressed that such illegal activity poses a threat to the identity of Shabana FC, the integrity of its partnership with MAFRO Sports, and the sustainability of the local sports economy.

“We are actively working with law enforcement agencies and other relevant authorities to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this criminal behaviour,” the statement read.

Shabana FC and MAFRO Sports further assured their supporters of their commitment to providing authentic, high-quality merchandise through official and verified channels. Fans were urged to remain vigilant and only purchase from trusted sources to protect both the club’s brand and their investment in genuine products.

The club also took the opportunity to thank its fanbase for their continued loyalty, emphasising that integrity, professionalism, and passion remain central to its mission of growing the game. For official merchandise, fans can reach out to Shabana FC headquarters at Gusii Stadium in Kisii Town or directly through MAFRO Sports’ verified platforms.

Funds drive

Meanwhile, Shabana has announced plans for the club’s fun day and fund drive dates. This is a bid to raise money for the players’ welfare. In a statement seen by the People Daily, the community club is calling on all its supporters, friends, and the wider football fraternity to converge at Gusii Stadium, Kisii County, on Sunday, September 7, 2025, for what promises to be the club’s biggest celebration of the year, dubbed Shabana Day.

The day’s highlight will be a friendly clash between Shabana FC and Tanzania’s Pamba Jiji FC. According to the club, the celebration will go far beyond the pitch, with live music, cultural performances, and fan-centred activities including raffles, merchandise stalls, and a meet-and-greet session with current players and club legends. The team is currently in Mbale, Uganda, in preseason ahead of the new FKF Premier League season.
