Shabana outclass Sofapaka as Murang’a Seal fall in Mombasa

By , December 16, 2023

Sofapaka saw their resurgent spirit cooled by Shabana following a 4-1 defeat at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Hma Bay on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

Batoto ba Mungu had recorded morale-boosting results that had seen them rise above the danger zone in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League match before the loss to Tore Bobe.

The National Super League champions scored in the fifth minute through Ezekiel Omuri before scoring the second before the half-time break.

The second was scored by Brian Michira in the 38th minute, and the third came in the 63rd minute as Omuri registered his brace.

Omuri, the shining star for the home side, provided an assist for Nehemiah Onchiri for the fourth goal.

The win is a big respite for Shabana, who are now 13th, but for Sofapaka, who had enjoyed a three-match unbeaten run, it was a bad day in office.

Kenya Police suffered a 2-1 loss to KCB. The Bankers returned to winning ways after seeing off the home side.

Bernard Mwalala’s charges scored the first through Apolo Otieno and Derrick Otanga before Police denied them a clean sheet when they scored through a penalty.

KCB have now moved to a point below Gor Mahia, who are in action on Sunday, and this points to a tightening league title.

Elsewhere, Murang’a Seal suffered a 2-0 loss against Bandari at Mbaraki Stadium.

After a week-long social media banter between the clubs, it was now time to settle matters on the pitch, and it was the Dockers who had the longest laugh.

Ugandan striker William Wadri scored the opener before his compatriot Umaru Kasumba added the second from the spot.

The win means Bandari moved to the fifth position with 26 points.
