Shabana FC recorded their highest gate collection since returning to the Kenyan Premier League after drawing 0-0 with Gor Mahia at Gusii Stadium on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

The club announced that the match generated Ksh3,157,500 in ticket sales, setting a new record for their home games since promotion.

“Shabana Fc Vs Gor Mahia Fc Ticket Sales. We collected a gross revenue of 3,157,500/=. Asante sana for all those who made it to Gusii Stadium for our match against Gor Maha Fc. It was great seeing the Stadium painted red and white,” the club stated in a post on X.

The fixture attracted a huge crowd, with fans filling the stands early and creating a strong atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

Supporters turned Gusii Stadium into a sea of red and white as they backed the hosts from the first whistle to the last. Shabana later thanked fans for turning up in large numbers and showing discipline during the high-profile fixture.

On the pitch, the contest remained tight and evenly balanced. Gor Mahia made a late change in goal after Brynne Omondi picked up an injury during warm-up. Gad Mathews stepped in and settled quickly despite the late call.

Defences hold firm

Both teams tested each other’s defence in the opening stages, but neither side created a clear scoring chance in the first half. Gor Mahia suffered another setback just before the break when Ben Stanly went off injured and Jackson Dwang’ replaced him.

Gor Mahia increased their tempo after the restart and pushed higher up the pitch. Felix led the attack, while Kapen and Musa Shariff provided width from the right and left flanks. The visitors won several corners and spent long spells in Shabana’s half, but the home defence stayed organised and dealt with the pressure.

Shabana looked dangerous on the counter attack and tried to use the pace of their forwards to exploit spaces behind Gor Mahia’s defence. However, their final pass let them down, and the visitors recovered well whenever the hosts broke forward.

As the match entered the final stages, Gor Mahia introduced Fidel Origa and Patrick Essombe in place of Alpha and Shariff in a bid to find a winner. Despite the changes, neither side managed to break the deadlock, and the match ended goalless.

Off the pitch, the Football Kenya Federation praised fans for their good behaviour. Both clubs had appealed for calm before the match due to the expected large turnout.

Shabana chairman Jared Nivaton confirmed that the club put strong security measures in place, while Gor Mahia official Ronald Ngala urged supporters to use designated gates and respect seating arrangements.
