Shabana FC end winless streak in narrow victory against Ulinzi
By Kenneth Mwenda, November 9, 2025Shabana FC claimed a crucial 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Sunday, November 9, 2025, ending a five-game winless streak in the FKF Premier League.
The away win lifts the team from a recent slump and gives coach Peter Okidi a timely boost.
Both teams entered the match under pressure. Ulinzi Stars, positioned 17th with six points from seven games, have struggled for consistency. The Soldiers have managed just one win, three draws, and three losses so far.
Shabana, with eight points from seven matches, had started the season strongly but slipped into inconsistency. The team’s previous results included three consecutive home losses to Posta Rangers, Mathare United, and AFC Leopards. Injuries to key players such as Brian Michira and George Onyango limited tactical options, and Shabana’s attacking play had become somewhat predictable.

Shabana holds firm advantage
The match itself was tight and competitive. Shabana relied on quick transitions and high-intensity play, while Ulinzi attempted to build patiently from the back, using structured possession.
Despite Ulinzi creating several chances, Shabana’s defence remained compact, and the goalkeeper made key saves to maintain the clean sheet. The decisive moment came in the 16th minute when Mwalimu’s Mark Okola scored with a header from a well-executed attack that broke through Ulinzi’s disciplined backline, securing all three points for the visitors.
Coach Okidi fielded a strong starting XI. Midfielders Biron Otieno and Kevin Omundi anchored play, while the defence supported striker Austin Odongo. Shabana’s tactical discipline and ability to capitalise on Ulinzi’s mistakes were key to the victory.
The win offers Shabana a chance to regain confidence and momentum as they aim to climb the table. For Ulinzi, the loss underlines the need to improve finishing and maintain focus throughout matches.
