“Over the years, it has become more than just a sporting event, encompassing a vibrant festival atmosphere with music, food, and cultural celebrations,” KRU announced.

Last year’s tournament, held on November 17 and 19, witnessed Kenya 7s clinching the title with a resounding 19-0 victory over Samurai at RFUEA Grounds.

The thrilling showdown, graced by the presence of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, showcased Shujaa’s prowess as they navigated through the competition undefeated, culminating in a triumphant display in the final.

Led by standout performer Patrick Odongo, Shujaa stamped their authority early with Odongo’s opening try. Despite a fierce challenge from Samurai, Shujaa’s dominance prevailed, with Kevin Wekesa’s try further extending their lead. With Odongo sealing the victory with the final try, Shujaa reclaimed the Safari 7s crown in spectacular fashion.

In the women’s category, Uganda Lady Cranes emerged victorious, edging out Kenya Lionesses with a hard-fought 15-12 win.

KRU’s confirmation

Additionally, KRU has announced that the KRU 7s, serving as the second round of the 2024 National Sevens Circuit, will be hosted by Kabras Sugar at the Kakamega Showground on August 3 and 4.
