Ryan Ogam makes Austria debut in Wolfsberger’s victory over Graz
By Luke Oluoch, October 5, 2025Harambee Stars attacker Ryan Ogam finally made his long-awaited debut in Austria’s top tier on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
The ex-Tusker attacker was introduced in the final quarter of the clash as his side, Wolfsberger, stormed to a 3 – 1 away win against Grazer AK.
Ogam secured a move to the Wolves after the conclusion of the 2024 CHAN games, where he was among the key performers of the Harambee Stars’ locally based contingent.
He enjoyed a stellar run in the continental championship, scoring two goals en route to Kenya’s exit against Madagascar in the knockout stages.
The left-footed poacher also scored a goal that was controversially disallowed in the quarterfinal tie due to the absence of VAR.

His debut comes just three days after he started training with his new side on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
Following his move, he became the first Kenyan footballer to transfer directly from the Kenya Premier League (KPL) to a European top-tier league.
On the move
Speaking on the player, Wolfsberger AC President Dietmar Riegler noted that they were elated to have the player in their ranks after his standout performance with the national team.
“We are delighted to welcome Ryan to Wolfsberger AC. He is an exciting young striker with great potential, and we have followed his progress at Tusker FC with keen interest, and his recent performance for his county with the national team, Harambee Stars,” he told Tusker FC.
Wolfberger FC, simply known as Wolves, competes in the Austrian top league and currently sits in sixth place in the 12-team log with seven points from 5 games.
Wolfsberger profile
Founded in 1931, the team is located in the town of Wolfsberg, Southern Austria. It is currently coached by native Dietmar Kühbauer. The team has established itself as a stable Bundesliga side in recent times and qualified for European competition on multiple occasions, most notably reaching the 2019–20 UEFA Europa League group stage after finishing third in the 2018–19 Bundesliga.
Most recently, the club’s push for European football ended against Greece’s PAOK, who defeated them 1-0 after extra time in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round, their first-leg 0-0 draw at home in the 2025/26 season.
The striker is among the players expected to join the national team for the upcoming international window.
He earned his berth in Benni McCarthy’s 24-man squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifier ties against Burundi and the Ivory Coast.
