Zimbabwe suffered a setback when their first-choice goalkeeper sustained an injury, further bolstering Kenya’s offensive onslaught. Olwande struck again, skillfully evading defenders to slot home another goal, doubling Kenya’s advantage.

Although Zimbabwe managed to find the net, their goal was disallowed due to an infringement in the buildup. The first half concluded with no further goals as teams regrouped for halftime discussions.

In the second half, Kenya extended their lead in the 66th minute. Timothy Ouma orchestrated a brilliant play on the right flank, delivering a precise cross that found Beja in prime position to score, further solidifying Kenya’s lead at 3-0, firmly securing victory.

Zimbabwe fought valiantly towards the end and managed to net a consolation goal amidst a defensive mix-up by Kenya.

With Zambia’s withdrawal from the tournament, the field narrowed, featuring only Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Kenya’s Rising Stars.

The next challenge awaits Rising Stars as they face Malawi at the Bingu National Stadium on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
