AFC Leopards have shot to the third spot of the Football League Kenya Federation Premier League standings after Thursday’s victory over Ulinzi Stars in the league’s round 14 clashes.

Ingwe took to their Facebook page on Friday, December 19, 2025, to celebrate yet another statement victory, ranking among recent triumphs that has seen the club put Gor Mahia, Ulinzi Stars, and Shabana on their chopping list as the season approaches its midpoint.

Third place

“A win that took us to the 3rd place on the FKF-PL table with only two points separating us from the number one team,” part of the club statement said.

The victory puts Leopards as the league’s most in-form team with only a single defeat in the season inflicted by Mara Sugar.

Ingwe occupies the third spot in a crowded top six that has five teams on 21 points apiece.

Others on a similar point haul are Robert Matano’s KCB, who are ranked second behind log leaders, Gor Mahia.

The Bankers are ranked jointly with Ingwe on goal difference, though Leopards have scored fewer goals.

Meanwhile, Fred Ambani’s side, who braved an inconsistent start to the campaign, seems to have gotten their mojo back and now seeks to end the season on a high in their last engagement of the year against Bidco United.

Title prospects

“We play Bidco United next on Tuesday at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in our final match of the year.”

The Nairobi-based side will then resume its duties in the new year on January 10, 2026, with a visit to Tusker FC.

Ingwe is mulling the prospect of clinching the elusive league title that they won over more than a decade ago.

Already the team is riding high on a fresh wave of optimism, with Amabani recently terming the string of results as an early indication of their title capabilities.

“I feel the boys played. We are showing great improvement from the game against Gor Mahia to this one. I believe if we continue building on this, we are capable of pushing for the title,” Ambani remarked after his charges’ draw against Police FC on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Besides the league title, which has eluded the club in the recent past, Leopards’ last trophy came in 2017 when they beat Kariobangi Sharks to lift the FKF Shield Cup.
