The 23-year old won a bronze medal in the 10,000-metre race at the 2019 world championships even as he is the world record holder for the 10 km road race in the last five years many athletes from the region have been banned for doping cases even as the AIU head Brett Clothier warned in March that the international anti-doping body was stepping up its investigations and testing in the country.

Echoing the sentiments of Kipruto’s innocence his  coach, Brother Colm O’Connell reiterated that Kipruto was clean.
