Olunga extends goal-scoring run in Al Arabi’s pre-season clash

Olunga, who recently completed his move to the club from Qatari rivals Al Duhail, bagged the second goal of the match as he continued with his fine pre-season form.
Waseem Qadari scored the first goal for Olunga’s new outfit before the Harambee Stars captain doubled the lead. Salem Reda sealed the win with the third goal of the match.
This was their final friendly match ahead of the new season. The Qatari Stars League season is set to commence on August 15, 2025, with Olunga’s new side scheduled to open their campaign against Al Wakrah away from home.
Olunga and the team touched down in the Spanish city for the pre-season camp on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

A brace
On Tuesday, 29, 2025, Olunga was twice on target as his club thrashed Spanish side UD Ibiza 5-2 in a friendly.
Earlier on Saturday, July 19, 2025, the Kenyan star scored a goal as Al Arabi edged out Club Costa City 2-0 in a preseason friendly tie.
Shift from Duhail
Kenyan talisman linked up with the club for a fresh challenge with the Qatari champions on Friday, July 5, 2025. The former Gor Mahia striker agreed to a two-year deal with the new club after ending his contract with rivals Al Duhail SC, where he left as the club’s all-time top scorer with 130 goals after three memorable seasons.
At Duhail, Olunga proved a key cog of the club, becoming a fan favourite and a key figure in the club’s domestic and continental campaigns. The Kenyan went on to win several major titles, including Qatar Stars League titles and multiple cup trophies.
Before his Qatari success, Olunga had lit up leagues across the globe besides his domestic stint at various Kenya Premier League clubs.
In Japan, Michael Olunga won the 2020 J1 League Golden Boot with 28 goals for Kashiwa Reysol and was named the league’s MVP.
Olunga’s international career also boasts stints in Spain with Girona, Sweden’s Djurgården, and China’s Guizhou Heng Feng.
