Ojai says Strathmore on right trajectory after storming semifinals in Prinsloo
By Luke Oluoch, August 3, 2025Strathmore University coach Willis Ojal has stated the team is on the right path to defending their Prinsloo title after an impressive takedown of the Kenya Harlequins in the main Cup Quarters clash played on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Speaking after a commanding 26-0 win over Quins that saw the team secure passage to the semifinals, the tactician credited his impeccable defense for the feat.
The team’s defense is led by Shem Okola, who delivered yet another sterling performance en route to the priceless win.
“The tournament has been good to us. We have been big on defense, as defence wins you titles. We conceded three against the Oilers. Today, we are yet to concede. We are on the right trajectory as we await our semis against the Catholic Monks,” he stated.
The trainer has further predicted a tough semifinal outing as the race for the Prinsloo title heads into the decisive stage later on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Nakuru Athletics Club.
“If you look around the teams are doing good and everyone is trying to outsmart each other, which is good for the overall fans’ experience and for the competition levels.’ Ojai added.
Leos now shifts attention to the clash against Catholic Monks with a place in the finals at stake.
Monks mounted a stunning display to narrowly dispatch Mwamba with a 12-7 scoreline in the other quarter-final clash.

In another clash, KCB cemented their dominance over Kabras with a 17-5 scoreline, bringing the sugarmen’s quest for the title to a halt in a second successive series after downing the western side in the Driftwood’s semifinals.
Meanwhile, Menengai Oilers claimed the much-hyped derby bragging rights after defeating Nakuru RFC 7-0 in the highlight of the quarterfinal clash.
The victory saw the Oilers join Catholic University Monks, KCB, and Leos among the final standing four in contention for the Prinsloo title.
