NSL: Coach Bruno emphasises discipline, teamwork as MOFA begins preseason

As the new football season in the country draws closer, National Super League side Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) have officially kicked off their preseason training sessions under head coach Charles Bruno, who crossed over from another NSL side Kisumu All Stars earlier.

The youthful tactician made it clear that discipline and unity will define the team’s journey this year as they aspire to earn promotion to the FKF Premier League in the shortest time.

In his address to the players, Bruno underlined the importance of aligning to a common vision and maintaining high standards both on and off the pitch.

What Bruno wants

“We have a clear goal to deliver on, but it will not be possible if we are not disciplined and do not work as a team,” Bruno said.

Having earned a reputation for his structured approach and high expectations, Charles Bruno also stressed his firm stance on punctuality and accountability.

“I am particularly firm on time management. Those who know me or have worked with me understand this, and it is important that we’re clear about it from the onset,” he asserted. Despite the seriousness of his tone, the coach reminded the squad that he values empathy and camaraderie.

“But at the end of the day, I am a human being before coach. We will work together as a family, with mutual understanding,” he added, receiving nods of approval from the team.

To complement the technical session, the club’s Head of Marketing and Communication, Bonface Osano, engaged the players in an orientation on MOFA’s Media and Social Media Policies. His message was simple yet stern: professionalism must extend beyond the field.

“We are not going to succeed in a chaotic environment where we do not conduct ourselves professionally in the media space,” said Osano.

Osano further reminded the players of MOFA’s guiding principles, which include Discipline, Teamwork, and Leadership — values he said every player must internalise as part of the club’s culture.

With preseason now in full swing, MOFA appears to be setting a solid foundation in training and shaping the character of its players. MOFA has made improvements in both the playing and technical departments ahead of the new football campaign.
