Madrid Half Marathon champion Vincent Ng’etich and Catherine Reline on Sunday won the men’s and women’s Nakuru City Stanbic Marathon respectively.

Ng’etich who hails from Nakuru emerged as the winner in the men’s race clocking 59:00.01 minutes after shrugging off steep competition to win the coveted prize.

Ng’etich was followed closely by Godfrey Kipchumba who posted a time of 59:44.0 with Patrick Mosin closing the best three with 59:48.4 minutes with this year’s marathon being the fastest in the men’s category.

“I feel great and confident. I’ve been to several races in Nairobi and Japan and I feel I am well placed to represent Kenya on the biggest stage, and being a Nakuru resident, this is a milestone,” said Ng’etich.

Reline on the other hand defended her title in the women’s race after posting a 1:06:48.1 an improvement from last year where she recorded 1:07:29. She was followed closely by Jackeline Chelal with 1:07.46 and Janet Chepkoech with 1:08.26.

Delighted Reline said she remains hopeful of making an impact locally and internationally.
