This year’s NCBA Golf Series is set to begin tomorrow at the renowned Vet LabSports Club in Nairobi.

Over 200 golfers are expected to compete in the series opener, which marks the first of 41 qualifier events scheduled for the year.

Now in its fifth edition, the series will feature tournaments across East Africa, with a significant expansion to 159 events—up from 130 in 2024.

These include 49 junior events in Kenya, 22 in Uganda, 3 in Tanzania as well as the first-ever junior event and golf clinic in Rwanda.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, NCBA’s John Gachora highlighted the series’ growth and impact on golf development across the region.

“Vet LabSports Club provides a fantastic platform to kickstart our journey, and we’re excited to host over 200 golfers for a memorable tournament. The series has grown significantly, and we’re eager to engage with players and fans as we continue to grow the sport,” Gachora said.

The 18-hole Vet Labcourse, known for its challenging layout, will host players competing in the stableford format, with winners crowned across various categories.

NCBA has bolstered its commitment to golf by renewing partnerships with the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) and the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) while forging a new collaboration with the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK). As part of this initiative, KGU received KES 6 million to support the 2025 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series, which kicks off today at Sigona Golf Club with the Sigona Bowl tournament.

Additionally, JGF received Sh12 million to nurture young talent and expand access to the sport, while PGK was provided a three-month starter support kit worth Sh1.2 million to aid professional golfers’ activities.

The NCBA Golf Series, which promotes talent and golf development, aims to grow the sport from junior levels to seasoned professionals.
