Nakuru Derby highlights Kenya Cup matchday 5 fixtures

The 2025/2026 Kenya Cup season continues on Saturday, January 17, 2026, with Matchday five fixtures as rugby fans are set for another exciting weekend featuring blockbuster encounters across the country.

According to the Kenya Rugby Union fixture list released on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, all Matchday 5 games will kick off at 4:00 pM as top-flight clubs begin their quest for dominance in the country’s premier rugby competition.

At Ngong Racecourse, Nondescripts RFC will lock horns with university side KU Blak Blad in what promises to be a physical and tactical battle between experience and youthful energy.

Meanwhile, KCB Rugby Club will host Kenya Harlequin at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka, a fixture that rarely disappoints and is expected to draw a large crowd given the two sides’ rich rivalry and attacking pedigree.

In Nakuru, Menengai Oilers will welcome Nakuru RFC at the ASK Showground in a Nakuru Derby encounter that is always fiercely contested, with pride and regional bragging rights at stake.

Western Kenya will also be buzzing as Kabras Sugar take on Strathmore Leos at the ASK Showground in Kakamega. Kabras, perennial title contenders, will be eager to start strongly against a youthful Strathmore side known for its pace and discipline.

MMST faces Imapala

Elsewhere, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology RFC (MMUST) will face off with Impala RFC at the Masinde Muliro University grounds, as the students test themselves against one of Kenya’s most established clubs.

The day’s action will be rounded off in Athi River, where Daystar Falcons host Kisumu RFC at Daystar University, with both teams hoping to secure valuable points to avoid relegation worries later in the season.

With competitive balance improving across the league and several teams strengthening their squads during the transfer window, the ongoing Kenya Cup campaign is expected to be one of the most competitive in recent years.
