Mvurya hails Team Kenya after dominant show in Africa Youth Games

Team Kenya will be returning home with an outstanding 7 gold, 11 silver, and 17 bronze medals, won across multiple sporting disciplines.
Shining in Angola
”Our young men and women displayed exceptional talent, discipline, and resilience, competing with courage and determination while proudly representing the Kenyan flag on the continental stage.
“Congratulations to all participants for demonstrating true patriotism and an unyielding competitive spirit. Kenya’s upcoming generation in sport is bright, bold, disciplined and destined for greatness!” Mvurya took to X on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

The 2025 Africa Youth Games are the 4th edition, held in Luanda, Angola, from December 10 to 20, 2025, bringing together 2,025 young athletes (14-17 years) from 54 African nations in around 33 sports. The Games are also serving as qualifiers for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics and promoting African unity and talent development.
The event recorded 2,025 young athletes (ages 14-17) from all 54 African countries. The Games officially kicked off on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Kenya secured medals in sports like Judo and Fencing.
Munyua makes history
Meanwhile, Mvurya’s delight in the youth flying the country’s flag in international competitions follows another proud moment for the nation after David Munyua rewrote Kenya’s sporting history by becoming the first Kenyan to register a victory at the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship, held at the iconic Alexandra Palace in London, England, on Friday, December 19, 2025.
In a remarkable performance on the world stage, Munyua triumphed over World Grand Prix Champion Mike De Decker, marking a historic milestone not only for Kenyan darts but also for the country’s growing presence in global sport.
