Murang’a Seal secured their fourth victory of the season in their debut campaign, triumphing 2-0 over Sofapaka FC at St. Sebastian Park on Saturday.

Heading into the match, Seal had put an end to their two-match losing streak with a solitary-goal win against Nzoia Sugar last weekend.

On the other hand, their opponents, Sofapaka, were at the bottom of the league table with just one point.

Their only point came from the season opener against Gor Mahia, after which they suffered four consecutive defeats.

Sofapaka’s poor start led to the departure of Burundian coach Francis Haringingo, as they mutually agreed to part ways following a 2-1 loss to Nairobi City Stars last weekend.

Coach Ezekiel Akwana was brought in to lead the side on interim basis as they sought to turn around their results.

In pursuit of back-to-back wins, Murang’a Seal’s John Kiplagat opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the match, giving his team an early lead.

Kiplagat extended their lead to 2-0 with a second goal in the 45th minute, and that’s how the first half ended. The second half remained goalless, with Murang’a Seal securing another clean sheet.

Murang’a Seal clean sheets

They now have four clean sheets this season and have maintained a clean sheet in each of the matches they’ve won.

This victory propelled Murang’a Seal to second place in the league standings with 12 points, closing the gap between them and Posta Rangers to just four points, pending the result of the Gor Mahia vs. AFC Leopards match.

Sofapaka FC remain bottom of the log with just one point.
