Extreme Sports CEO Hussein Mohamed has condemned harassment meted on him from a section of foot-ball officials warning that he would not be cowed.

Mohammed has accused Football Kenya Federation (FKF) through some of its officials for undermining football values and floating the country’s laws. A visibly upset Mohamed who spoke at a press conference at the weekend, warned that he would no longer take any threats coming his way lying down. He spoke against the backdrop of the end of year chaos that ensued in Homabay County during the finals of the Genowa Cup that was being held at Raila Odinga Stadium.

“I have repeatedly been subjected to discrimination and intimidation from participating in football relat-ed activities orchestrated by certain members within the Football Kenya Federation. The said actions have been malicious and recently my civil and fundamental constitutional rights have been violated in broad daylight. On Dec 31, while making my way to attend the Genowa Cup finals in Homabay County, I re-ceived a call from a gentleman who introduced himself as an official of FKF Homa Bay Branch. He went on to tell me that I was not allowed to attend the games as they had received instructions from FKF Head Office Nairobi to block my entry to the Raila Odinga Stadium,” lamented the former FKF presidential as-pirant who is expected to contest for the president’s seat at this year’s FKF elections.

He added: “I was, however, received and ushered into the facility by county Government officials as I was the Governor’s guest. A tense and volatile stand-off ensued as the FKF branch officials refused to proceed with the games and immediately withdrew referees as they demanded that I leave the stadium. The Gov-ernor and County officials suggested that FKF officials’ protests had no merit nor logic. The timely inter-vention of the Governor, her team and local law enforcement authorities ensured that my constitutional rights were protected and for that I am truly grateful to them for standing their ground against tyranny and impunity.”

Hussein who has indicated that he is willing to protect his name and image even through legal proceed-ings said everybody had freedom of association as per the Constitution of Kenya.
