Mathare United to conduct separate investigations on players banned by FKF

By , February 9, 2023

Hours after Football Kenya Federation (FKF) banned two Mathare United players over match-fixing allegations, the club stated on its social media, disclosing that the club also conducted its separate investigations on the individuals implicated in the issue.

The FKF integrity department suspended Lennox Ogutu and Alphonce Ndonye for allegedly engaging in match-fixing.

“Sincerely believing our players and team were far better than the results for most of our matches so far this year, MUFC management launched discrete investigations and then shared our findings and concerns with FKF,” a statement by Mathare United read in part.

Mathare United confirmed that indeed the duo had been suspended but highlighted that further comments from the club will be released later as further investigations are underway.

FKF in a letter to the club’s leadership acknowleged receiving information that link the two players with match-fixing practices.
