“Congratulations to our defender Okeyo Brian who is graduating today from Kenyatta University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management,” Mathare United said in a congratulatory message.

The club went on to wish him success in his future endeavours.

“You are a true inspiration, Brian, congratulations again, and may the future shine even brighter for you,” the club staed.

Okeyo, a former player in the FKF Premier League and a previous defender for Ushuru RFC, was reportedly considered for a move to Nairobi City Stars during the transfer window.

Although the transfer did not materialize, Okeyo had trained with City Stars during the pre-season and participated in the second edition of the Elite Pre-season Cup.

Despite the unsuccessful transfer, Okeyo remained part of Mathare United’s playing unit, contributing to the team’s performance in the FKF National Super League.

Mathare United currently hold the second spot in the league as they strive to secure a return to the top tier of Kenyan football.

Okeyo’s academic achievement aligns with a positive trend in Kenyan football, with other players like SS Assad Elmond Kasaya and AFC Leopards‘ Clifton Miheso also recently graduating from different universities.
