Marathon champion Keino set to feature in Copenhagen Marathon

Copenhagen Marathon bronze medallist Agnes Keino (pictured) will be competing in the women’s elite race at the Copenhagen Half Marathon slated for Sunday.
Iten-based runner Keino said that she has prepared well for the weekend race.
“I have been training well and am in good shape. I hope I will perform well on Sunday,” said the 2019 Strasbourg 10km race winner.
Keino has a personal best time of 1:15.04 which she ran at the Remich Route du Vin Semi Marathon. She is also the winner of the 2018 Hamburg Alsterlauf 10km race in Germany.
Speaking to People Daily after her morning speed work training, Keino said that before covid-19 pandemic she was performing well in international races until recently in February when she competed in Copenhagen Marathon and was placed third timing 2:25.08.
“The journey of my running career has been good until when corona came but I’m happy that earlier this year I did well in the marathon as I came in position three and hope for the best in future,” said the 2019 Tout Roanne Court 10km second runners-up.
Keino will enjoy the company of Kenyan compatriots including former NCAA 10km champion Sharon Lokedi, Irene Jepchumba and Fancy Chemutai among others
Korir has a personal best time of 1:05:28 which she ran at the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon in February. She is also the winner of the Paris Schneider Electric Marathon. She is the third fastest in the field.
The Kenyan representatives are likely to face stiff competition from their Ethiopian rivals.
The 2019 All-Africa Games silver medallist Feysa Hawi with a personal best of 1:05:41 will also be in the line-up. During last year’s edition, she placed second in her PB and she is the fourth fastest runner in the field.
