AFC Leopards head coach Tomas Trucha has revealed why his charges struggled to get a convincing victory against Murang’a Seal in their FKF Premier League fixture on Sunday.

Ingwe kept their winning streak going in the top flight after Vincent Omune grabbed the only goal of the game to silence the promoted side at Nyayo Stadium.

Despite the victory, Trucha was not satisfied with the performance of his players insisting missing some of key players slowed down their style of play hence the 1-0 result.

“When the starting line-up is changed, it is difficult to keep the momentum and the combinations. It was not an easy game because we lost the captain (Clifton Miheso), we lost the goalkeeper (Levis Opiyo to suspension), we lost Ken (Owino) to a knock,” Trucha told reporters after the game.

“We had to make changes to the starting line-up, so I told the guys that I did not expect a perfect game, just put everything you have into the game. Fight. “They made it, so I would say we should also give the benefit of doubt to Murang’a. They played well, we were lucky in this game and congratulations to my players, they worked hard in training and they deserved all the three points but it was not an easy game.”

Trucha further called on his players to be ready to step in whenever they have key players missing.
“Everybody must be ready, but if you change every game three players, four players, you lack consistency,”said the Belgian coach, adding: “If you go back to the games where you were picking up the points and we had good performance because the starting line-up was stabilsied.”

The outcome of the game saw Ingwe register their fifth concecutive win and move to eighth position on the 18-team table with 30 points from 21 matches. Ingwe last suffered defeat on December 10 after going down 2-1 against Bidco United. In their last five matches, they have managed to beat Ulinzi Stars 1-0, Muhoroni Youth 1-0, Nairobi City Stars 2-0, Kariobangi Sharks 2-0 and now Murang’a 1-0 and will next face Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium.
