Leopards appoint Ronald Namai as acting CEO

AFC Leopards have confirmed the appointment of Ronald Namai as the club’s Chief Executive Officer for a period of six months.

According to a communication from the club on Friday, July 18, 2025, Namai has resumed the role and will be tasked with ensuring a smooth transition phase following the conclusion of club elections.

“We wish to officially inform you that the above-mentioned has been appointed as the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AFC Leopards for 6 months, effective immediately,” a statement from the club read.

‘This appointment follows the recently concluded club elections and is part of our broader effort to ensure a smooth and stable transition as the new leadership settles in. Mr. Namai has previously served in this capacity and brings with him valuable experience and institutional knowledge that will be vital during this transitional period. On behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), we kindly ask for your patience and support as we focus on stabilising and repositioning the club for future success.

Recent elections

The announcement comes after the team conducted its elections during a special general meeting on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani.

Ingwe’s legend, Boniface Ambani, was elected as the new chairman, taking over from Dan Shikanda.

He clinched the seat with 1,101 votes, defeating rival Enos Mutoka, who received 647.

The polls, conducted under the supervision of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), also saw the election of Isaac Mulanda Mulindi as Secretary General and Newton Lime Luchacha as Treasurer.

The new leadership formally took office on Friday, July 4, 2025, with the new chairman promising to return the club to its former pride.

Ambani, who played a role in AFC Leopards’ last league title win in 1998, vowed to steer the club back to glory while focusing on professionalism, accountability, and stronger community ties.

Focus on sustainability

His blueprint included revenue generation through merchandising, sponsorship deals, and improved fan engagement.

He also committed to inclusivity, promising equal support for both the men’s and women’s teams, a move that has resonated well with the club’s growing supporter base.
