Kwanthanze Girls once again stamped their authority on the national volleyball stage after outclassing Kesogon Girls 3-0 in the 2025 KSSSA National Term Two Games final held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) in Kakamega.

The Eastern region giants were in superb form from start to finish, winning the sets 25-17, 25-6, and 25-16 to successfully defend their crown in emphatic style. The match, a repeat of the 2024 final, saw Kwanthanze overwhelm the Rift Valley side with pace, power, and precision.

Kwanthanze, who also won the national title in 2024, have now secured their seventh national championship, further strengthening their position as one of Kenya’s most decorated secondary school volleyball teams.

While Kesogon showed some promise in the opening set, they were completely outplayed in the second, managing just six points as Kwanthanze tightened their grip on the match. The reigning champions showcased excellent ball control, tactical service, and solid blocks that left Kesogon reeling.

Led by a well-drilled technical bench, Kwanthanze executed their game plan to near perfection. Their experience in high-pressure games was evident, with key players stepping up in crucial moments to deny Kesogon any chance of a comeback.

Kesogon, the 2023 champions, struggled to keep up with the tempo and were visibly shaken by the time the third set began. Despite pockets of resistance, the Western girls could not find rhythm or consistency.

The victory adds to Kwanthanze’s growing legacy in school games volleyball, putting them on a continued path to matching the legendary run of Cheptil Boys and St. Patrick’s Iten on the boys’ side.

In the bronze playoff, Sulumeti Girls defeated Soweto in a five-set thriller (21-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-15, 15-13), while the boys’ third-place match saw Mwaluphamba overcome Gogo 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22).

The national finals were the highlight of the Term Two Games calendar, attracting top talent and solidifying the reputation of MMUST as a fitting venue for Kenya’s premier school sports event.
