KVF League: Champions GSU stunned by KAPU as new season kicks off

an unpredictable opening day that saw upsets and hard-fought victories, with Kenya Airports Authority Volley Club stunning champions General Service Unit in one of the six-matches that rekindled the fierce internal rivalry of elite Kenyan volleyball teams.
In a dramatic league opener, KAPU pulled off a stunning upset against defending champions GSU, winning 3–2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 15-5) in a pulsating five-set battle.
Prisons win
In another clash, Kenya Prisons Men’s Team wrapped up the day with a hard-fought 3–1 (20–25, 25–22, 25–23, 26–24) victory over Equity Bank.
The Wardens, finalists in last season’s campaign, made light work of the Hawks to kick off their campaign on a winning note.
Administration Police (AP) Kenya also opened their campaign with a narrow 3–2 victory over a spirited Eldowas.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) also joined Prisons and KAPU on the winning side after dispatching Trailblazers in straight sets of 25–21, 25–20, and 25–7.
In other fixtures, Prisons Nairobi edged the National Youth Service (NYS) 3–2 in another pulsating five-set encounter, as Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) secured a solid 3–0 victory against Rift Valley Prisons (25-12, 25-15,
24-26) during the fourth match of the day at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

Match Day 2 action is set to continue this Friday, November 7, 2025, with five games on the cards at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.
The action spikes early at 8:00 am with KDF facing Eldowas. KDF, who have bolstered their squad with recent transfers, will be under pressure to secure a commanding victory against the newly promoted Eldoret Water (Eldowas).
At 10:00 am, AP Kenya will battle Prisons Nairobi. Both teams will be looking to build on their earlier results. The winner of this crucial clash will gain a vital edge in the race for the top half of the league table.
More clashes
The midday match at 12:00 noon sees the National Youth Service (NYS) lock horns with Chema Volleyball Club.
The latter, coached by Jeremiah Mukopi, is one of the newly promoted sides in the league alongside Eldoret-based Eldowas.
Chema will be looking for a statement win in their National League bow while NYS fights for a crucial two points to avoid an early drop into the relegation scrap.
The internal rivalry will take centre stage at 2:00 pm when Prisons Kenya faces off against Prisons Rift Valley.
The traditional powerhouse Prisons Kenya (The Warders) faces the ambitious Prisons Rift Valley franchise. This is a crucial test of depth and focus, with the winner gaining significant bragging rights and momentum.
The crème de la crème action of the day will see Kenya Ports Authority in an enthralling battle against Equity Hawks.
