KPA ladies side hammer JKUAT Lynx as Blades survive against Eldonets in KBF league

Kenya Ports Authority Ladies Basketball team were successful winners on Sunday against JKUAT Lynx in a 67-24 result at USIU Grounds during a Kenya Basketball Federation Women league match.


The defending champions were in cruise mode and led comfortably in all quarters of the game. Aminata Semasserkou, Valerie Kemunto, Vilma Achieng and Selina Okumu were heavy on duty as they made like difficult for the University side.

The Dockers had pace and power on the ball and shut of danger areas from the hosts in impeccable fashion.

Lynx on their part struggled to have composure as KPA were always swarming them with Coach Anthony Ojukwu always dishing out instructions. Technical rotation with the likes of substitutes Linda Alando and Belinda Akoth came off with great impact for KPA even as JKUAT were disappointing in their shot selection and passing.

Only Margaret Spinks and Jemimah Asiko showed a bit of promise for the Juja based side although not as impactful.

Meanwhile, in a Women Division 1 encounter, played Sunday morning, Safe Spaces ran riot in a 69-29 victory over visiting Western Delights in a one-sided fixture.

The trio of Florence Mbithe (18 points),Linet Atieno (18 points) and Millicent Ouma (10 points) combined for three quarters of the scores on the board. Under Head Coach Peninah Nthenya, the Safe Spaces Team were simply unplayable as they ran the court with poise and elegance.

Delight on the other end were woeful especially on conversion whenever they had opportunity and this cost them a huge deal. Praise Taifa and Doreen Kerubo were the leading scorers for the losing side with eight points apiece.

At the same time in the KBF-Men’s Premier League, Blades and Eldoret Platinum had an enticing contest which was separated by only a single basket with the former winning 55-53.

Jayson Mwodo (18 points) and Jack Waweru (14 points) were the toast of the team assisted by Jordy Handa on 10 points. Blades were dominant offensively but Eldonets covered their tracks pretty well as they frustrated the bigger and more agile opponents.

The Eldonets team under Marlon Ogolo had the likes of  James Omweno,Elvis Mwangi and Meshack Oloo leading the lights especially
