Kibiwott, Chepngetich take honours
at Nandi Re-discover 10km road race

Road specialist Kelvin Kibiwot and upcoming athlete Janet Chepng’etich reigned supreme at the 14th edition of the NandiRe-discover 10km road race, held at the weekend, in Kapsabet, NandiCounty.

The theme of the race was: “Efforts to support the green economy and enhance resilience to climate risks through green energy, health, habitat, forestry and water and its effect on climate change.”

Kibiwott crossed the line in 29:53.6, ahead of James Kipkoech who was timed 30:09.91, while Shadrack Kipchirchir was placed third after clocking 30:22.43, He stated that he is excited to have won the race.

“I’m happy to win the race though the course was hard but I’m glad that I managed to win,” said the fifth finisher at Prague half marathon. Kibiwot – who has a personal best of 27.29 in the 10km race – said he will be waiting for his management to tell him where he will compete next.

Additionally, Chepngetich (pictured) emerged as the winner in the women’s category by crossing the line in a time of 34:20.98 ahead of Beatrice Cheserek who cut the tape in 34:21.16. Third-placed was Marion Kibor who clocked 34:52.3 to close the podium finish.
