Kibiwott aims to shine in forthcoming events
Commonwealth Games 3,000m steeplechase silver medallist Abraham Kibiwott is yearning to reciprocate home form at major global events.
Kibiwott has exhibited fine form during national events and trials, but has miserably failed to march such performances when it matters most.
Seventh at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha Qatar and 10th at the delayed Tokyo Games, pretty much sums up his recent outings with team Kenya, Kibiwott now wants to make amends at the biannual world championships scheduled for Eugene, Oregon from July 15-24.
“I want the fans to know that I strive to give my best whenever I’m representing my country,” said Kibiwott.
“Contrary to what others say, I never relax once I make the team, I really work hard, only those results have not been coming my way,” said the 3000m national champion.
Less than a week after winning the Kip Keino Classic Continental Tour Gold event at Kasarani Stadium, Kibiwott lined up at the Diamond League season opener in Doha last Friday when he finished a distant third.
