Kenya vs Madagascar: FKF appeals to CAF for full capacity at Kasarani

By , August 20, 2025

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has formally appealed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to increase the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani capacity from 60% to full capacity for the highly anticipated quarterfinal clash between Kenya and Madagascar scheduled for Friday, August 22, 2025.

In a statement shared by Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the CS noted that the federation would promptly communicate any fresh developments from the continental body if the plea is granted.

“FKF has already engaged CAF to have the numbers revised; however, we await CAF’s response and will communicate any updates in due course,” part of the CS’s statement read.

This appeal follows a positive report on the seamless nature of events during the Kenya vs. Zambia match staged at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

According to the report, Kenya was given a clean bill of health in terms of efficiency on security and fan management.

“We did not have any incident that could attract sanctions from CAF, and therefore, we want to thank the 12th man, the fans, the security team, and all stakeholders who played a key role in ensuring a seamless game on Sunday,” he added.

This affirmation underscores Kenya’s commitment to delivering a safe and world-class tournament experience,” he said.

The CS further assured that preparations for Friday’s quarterfinal clash between Kenya and Madagascar are in top gear, with strengthened measures to ensure smooth gate operations, enhanced security, and improved lighting to guarantee both safety and a memorable fan experience.

On ticketing, the CS assured the country that FKF is working closely with CAF to streamline the process.

The announcement follows a backlash after hundreds of fans encountered problems accessing tickets online after they went on sale on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

“CAF is sorting out the issue of ticketing. There was a challenge yesterday, and they are working on it. We are confident they will announce soon how fans can access tickets through the portal. In the meantime, we urge Kenyans to maintain their high spirits, unity, and unwavering support for the Harambee Stars,” the CS assured.
