FKF Premier League side Kenya Police will enter the final two matches of the season without midfielder Silicho Soita, who has sustained a knee injury.

Soita, a versatile player capable of playing as a central defender, was last featured in the matchday squad on May 15, when Kenya Police secured a narrow victory over Mathare United with a goal from Elvis Rupia.

He then missed their 1-1 draw against Ulinzi Stars and was also absent from their impressive 3-1 win over Posta Rangers, a game in which Rupia netted a brace.

The club has confirmed that Soita will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, meaning he is expected to make his return for the 2023/24 season.

Police extended their well wishes to the utility player for a speedy recovery as he embarks on his rehabilitation journey.

“Utility player Silicho Soita ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. He will be out for the rest of the season. We wish him quick recovery,” the club announced.

The absence of Soita will be a blow to the team, given his ability to play both as a defender and a midfielder.

Kenya Police will have to cope without Soita when they face relegated Vihiga Bullets in their penultimate round of the FKF Premier League season.

Additionally, he will be unavailable for their final match against KCB, a short trip that concludes Kenya’s top-tier campaign.

Kenya Police Improvement

Under the guidance of coach John Baraza, Kenya Police currently occupy the fourth position in the league standings with 60 points.

If they win their remaining two matches and title contenders Tusker and Nzoia Sugar suffer defeats, Kenya Police could potentially secure a second-place finish.

In 2021, Kenya Police earned promotion to the top-flight league after defeating Vihiga United 1-0 in the second leg of the National Super League playoffs final at the Utalii Grounds on September 19.

This achievement made them the first-ever National Super League team to defeat a Premier League side since the introduction of the relegation and promotion playoff format.

This season, Kenya Police have already surpassed their previous campaign’s performance, where they finished ninth with 47 points from 34 matches, recording 11 wins, 14 draws, and nine losses.

With two matches remaining, they have improved significantly, accumulating 60 points through 17 wins, nine draws, and six losses. The team’s fortunes have undergone a positive change, and they look to end the season on a high note.
