Kenya emerges top in 2025 EAC parliamentary games
By Luke Oluoch, December 17, 2025Kenya has emerged as the overall winner of the 15th edition of the East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games that concluded in Kampala, Uganda, on Tuesday, December 2025.
The multidisciplinary games saw Team Kenya emerge as the overall top performer, finishing with 20 medals comprising six gold, six silver, and eight bronze.
Dominant display
Kenya dominated athletics, volleyball, tug-of-war, darts, and golf, reinforcing its strong showing across multiple disciplines.
Among its major wins were powering to a strong victory in athletics and a gold medal haul in the volleyball discipline.
Individual performances
Kenyan lawmakers clinched gold in the 4x400m relay, 100m sprint, and 800m courtesy of Kacheliba MP Titus Lotee and Busia women’s representative Catherine Omanyo.
Moiben MP Phylis Bartoo was also in fine form, earning silver in the 1500 m with a time of 8:37.8 and also competing in the 400 m race, where she was placed fourth with a time of 1:55.1.
Lotee accounted for two gold medals won by Kenya.

He was part of Team Kenya’s Parliamentary 4x400m relay team, powered to gold on the second day of the athletics program, posting 4:19.8 on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
The MP also added another gold with a commanding run in the 800m, finishing in 2:28.9, and a silver medal in the men’s 1500m with a close 5:24.0 behind Acan Julius, who ran 5:23.5.
Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), the Bunge Sports Club co-chairperson, inspired Team Kenya in the men’s 4x400m relay, clinching gold in an impressive 50.8 seconds. He teamed up with David Ochieng, Dan Wanyama, and Bernard Kitur, securing Kenya’s first major triumph of the day.
Musyoka also bagged silver in the men’s 100m, clocking 12.6 seconds, finishing just behind sprint star Bernard Kitur, who struck gold in 11.8 seconds.
Volleyball triumph
Kenya also triumphed in volleyball on Saturday, December 13, 2025, with a victory over the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), bringing the title home.
Kenya dictated play to beat their opponents and seal an unbeaten streak in the discipline courtesy of a splendid display from Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama.
Other members of the volleyball team are Paul Nzengu, Brighton Yegon, Duncan Maina, Victor Koech Mandazi, Alfred Mutai, Josses Lelmengit, Jackson Mandago, Robert Basil, Seki Ole Lenku, and the newly elected UDA senator for Baringo, Vincent Chemitei.
The all-round cruise was capped with the person with disabilities’ victory in the darts game on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
The team led by Westland Timothy Wanyonyi retained the trophy in darts for the third year running.
The week-long event brought together parliamentary delegations from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and the East African Legislative Assembly under the theme “Advancing Integration Through Parliamentary Sports.”
