Matchday nine of the Kenya Cup presents a thrilling lineup of matches spread across Kakamega, Nakuru, and Nairobi.
At Kakamega Showground, reigning champions Kabras Sugar, leading the standings with 40 points and 8 bonus point wins, prepare for a tough challenge from third-placed Menengai Oilers, who come into the game with 33 points, having secured 7 wins and suffered 1 defeat.
Rai Derby in Kenya Cup
With both teams coming off victories in the previous round, it sets the stage for a gripping encounter that will truly test their playoff credentials.
Over at KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka, second-placed KCB, the only other undefeated team in the league with 39 points from 8 wins, square off against fourth-placed Kenya Harlequin.
Kenya Harlequin, having shown resilience against Kabras Sugar in their previous match, are determined to upset KCB and strengthen their own playoff hopes.
In another fixture, fifth-placed Nondescripts travel to face sixth-placed Kenyatta University Blak Blad, with both teams aiming to secure crucial points to solidify their playoff positions, intensifying the competition for qualification to the knockout rounds.
Seventh-placed Mwamba, buoyed by three consecutive victories after a shaky start to the season, host Kisumu at the RFUEA Ground, aiming to enhance their playoff chances with a bonus point win. Conversely, Kisumu, seemingly out of relegation danger, must remain focused to avoid any slip-ups.
Kenya Cup relegation
At the bottom of the table, winless Homeboyz faces a daunting challenge of avoiding relegation, needing victories in their remaining matches while hoping for stumbles from teams above them, notably Catholic Monks and Strathmore Leos.
Homeboyz clash with Leos at Jamhuri Park in a crucial encounter that could shape their fate, while the Leos are eager to break their six-match losing streak and move away from the relegation zone.
In Nakuru, eighth-placed Nakuru welcome eleventh-placed Catholic Monks at the Nakuru Athletic Club, with both teams desperate for a win to stay alive in their respective playoff and relegation battles.
