Kenya Cup: Hosts announce restriction on food and drinks ahead of finals

Reigning Kenya Cup champions Kabras Sugar has announced that no food and drinks will be allowed into the match venue ahead of the Kenya Cup finals slated for Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Moi Showground in Kakamega..
In a communique dated Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the club termed the restrictions as part of a raft of measures meant to enhance the fans’ experience and the safety of attendees during the event.
”As we prepare for the much-anticipated Kenya Cup Finals this Saturday, featuring Kabras Sugar Rugby vs Menengai Oilers, we would like to extend our gratitude for your continued support and enthusiasm. In line with efforts to optimize participant safety and experience, please take note of the following strict guidelines regarding food and beverages at the venue. No food or drinks will be allowed in to the premises,” part of the presser read.
The club has additionally urged on a strict observance of the directive, stating that there will be screening at several points to ensure full compliance.
Non-negotiable
“This directive is non-negotiable and will be enforced at the first security screening point. The multi-stakeholder security team has been authorized to confiscate any food or beverages found during security checks. Please be advised that confiscated items will be disposed of immediately and will not be retrievable, ” the presser stated.
Moreover, the club has disclosed of pre-arranged plans for refreshment plans, adding that sufficient stock of the only specified brand of drinks will be available to all participants.
Kabras, Oliers face off
Oilers are due to face off against the reigning champions as they seek their maiden Kenyan Cup title.
The Nakuru-based side will be hoping to become the first team to break the Western giant’s recent dominance and deny them a fourth straight title in the showdown.
