Kenya’s Junior Cricket Men’s Team began their ICC Under-19 Men’s World Cup Africa Qualifier (50 Overs) on a winning note following a four-wicket win over Sierra Leone yesterday following Sunday’s opening day washout against hosts Tanzania.

The West Africans had won the toss selecting to bat first and in the process posted a total of 140 all out on the board. John Bangura (51 runs off 106 balls) was Sierra Leone’s top run-getter and overall game-leading batsman with his contribution including a single boundary and one-six.

Alusine Turay (25 runs off 40 balls) and George Sesay (17 runs off 42 balls) were also helpful in building up the figures in the first innings.

However, the Kenyan bowling attack did not allow big numbers during their spell on the wicket. National team star Vishil Patel (4 in 31 runs) was the destroyer-in-chief with the ball.

The spin-bowler was at the end of casualties like Alusine Turay in the 11.5th over, Ibrahim Kpaka in the 12.6th over,Aliya Kamara in 42.5 overs and Joshua Macfoy in 42.6 overs.

On resumption,Team Kenya was in good shape despite losing three wickets in their first 75 runs.
