Kapaito urges Tusker to push on despite Gor Mahia edging closer to another FKF PL win
By Collins Amanga, May 12, 2024
Despite Gor Mahia’s seemingly unassailable lead in the league title race, Tusker‘s striker Eric Kapaito has rallied his team to give their all in the remaining six games of the season.
Acknowledging the slim mathematical chance of clinching the title, Kapaito insisted on the importance of focusing on each game as a final.
Tusker determination
While the odds may not be in their favour, he stressed the team’s determination to finish the season on a high note.
“We are taking game after game. We have six to go and we will do our best and see if we can get maximum points. Mathematically we can still get to the top but now we are depending on other results which is hard. But as Tusker, every game is important for us and we have to give 100 percent,” the striker told Tusker media.
Ahead of their clash against Murang’a Seal at Dandora Stadium, Kapaito expressed confidence in their preparations, recognizing the challenge posed by their opponents.
Despite Murang’a Seal’s victory in the reverse fixture, Kapaito highlighted Tusker’s commitment to securing maximum points and closing the gap at the top of the table.
“It is going to be a really tough game because they also need the three points to finish strongly. But for us, we have prepared well and training has been good this week. We want to ensure that we are as close to the top as possible. We have picked a run of two consecutive wins and we want to get another,” he stated.
Addressing the team’s recent shortcomings, particularly in converting chances, Kapaito spoke of the importance of improving their conversion rate.
Tusker’s finishing
With a focus on refining their finishing skills in training, Kapaito exuded confidence in the team’s ability to perform better in upcoming matches.
“We want to ensure that our conversion rate is high. We have been creating so many chances as a team but we don’t convert. We have done a lot of finishing in training this week and we have been scoring and that gives us confidence heading to the game,” Kapaito said.
While Kapaito remains in contention for the FKF PL Golden Boot, trailing behind Benson Omalla of Gor Mahia, he reiterated that his priority lies with the team’s success.
