Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Patrick Odhiambo has vowed to bring to an end their five-game winless run in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League when they face struggling Muhoroni Youth on Saturday.

After the league took a break to pave the way for the MozzartBet Cup, Abana Beingo will return to action seeking to bounce back to winning ways having tested their last victory – 2-0 result against Shabana – on December 10.

Since the game against Tore Bobe, Homeboyz lost 2-0 against AFC Leopards, 1-0 against Nairobi City Stars, 3-0 against Kenya Police, and drew 0-0 against Bandari before losing 1-0 against Sofapaka.

The team’s recent performances have seen the team dropping from among the title contenders to position eighth on the log with 28 points, 15 fewer than leaders and champions Gor Mahia. According to Odhiambo, the Muhoroni fixture gives his side the best opportunity to respond to the poor run of results by emerging victorious on Saturday.

“We have been in a very bad run of results (in the league), we haven’t won in five matches, picking just one draw, it is an outcome I did not expect from my team after a blistering start to the season but we must rectify our mistakes quickly and get back to our winning ways, and this must start against Muhoroni,” Odhiambo told People Sports.

Odhiambo added: “We are doing everything right, maybe scoring has been the issue, we dominate well, we do fantastic from the middle of play but when it comes to putting the ball in the net, we have not been at our best.”

On whether he has worked on their weaknesses, Odhiambo said: “We had a whole week following the break and have worked on many aspects, we have looked at our failures and rectified the mistakes, I believe we are good to go after the break and I want my players to show me they have changed against Muhoroni.”

While Homeboyz are sitting halfway on the table, Muhoroni are languishing a place above the relegation zone. They are sitting in position 16, while Shabana and Nzoia Sugar are lying in 17th and 18th respectively. Muhoroni have managed 19 points, from four wins, seven draws, and eight defeats.
