Kakamega Homeboyz unveil new signings to bolster squad

FKF Premier League outfit Kakamega Homeboyz have beefed up their squad with the signings of two players – forwards Alex Imbusia and David Kasirye – ahead of the new season.

According to Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula, Abana Baingo who will represent the country in the CAFConfederation Cup – by virtue of winning the Mozzart Bet FKF Cup – are targeting to at least sign six quality players in readiness for their journey in the continental competition and also defend the domestic Cup.

“So far, we have only signed two players, Imbusia, who has joined us from Sofapaka on a three-year contract, and Kasirye, who last played for the same side, Sofapaka, and has penned a two-year contract after agreeing on terms,” Shimanyula told People Sport.

“Imbusia is a good striker having done well while at Sofapaka and Kasirye is a much-travelled player good when with the ball, has played in Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi and we feel he has the qualities to help the team move forward and help reduce the work of forward Moses Shummah, whom we put much trust on in the last season and he delivered very well.”

Last season, Homeboyz finished seventh on the 18-team table with 49 points from 34 matches. They managed 13 wins, 10 draws and suffered 11 defeats.

As they gear up for the upcoming season, Shimanyula added: “In total, we are looking at six signings, we don’t want to sign names but players who will come in and do the job the coach wants, so for now, the two are confirmed deals and the other signings will be announced by Tuesday as we hope to have completed their negations then.”
