Kakamega Homeboyz scored at the death to win their Football Kenya Federation Premier League match against Ulinzi Stars at Ulinzi Sports Complex on Sunday, November 26, 2023.

Oscar Paul found the back of the net to break the soldiers’ hearts and hand the visitors an unlikely 1-0 victory away from home.

Chances

Meanwhile, Ambrose Sifuna came close to finding the back of the net in the 12th minute, but Ulinzi Stars’ goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng managed to pull off a save to keep the score goalless.

A combination between Sifuna and Moses Shummah followed, but the latter was unable to find the back with an attempted scissor kick.

Homeboyz have to thank Farouk Musisi for a well-timed intervention that denied Ulinzi Stars’ Boniface Muchiri a clear goal-scoring chance.

Francis Omondi scored for Homeboyz, but his goal was ruled out for offside five minutes before the halftime break.

Ben Stanley almost found the back of the net for Ulinzi Stars minutes after he was introduced, but he was dejected to see his clever shot fly over the bar.

Kakamega Homeboyz kept trying and almost had their efforts rewarded when Shummah launched a ferocious shot at the edge of the penalty box, but the ball slid wide.

A rare chance for Ulinzi Stars came in the 68th minute when Benjamin Murimi spotted Shannel Makwatta, who passed the ball to Enosh Ochieng in a promising position, but the centre-forward failed to collect the exquisitely laid ball, wasting the scoring chance.

Late goal

As the game progressed towards the final whistle, Paul, a second-half substitute, struck to hand Hoemboyz victory at Ulinzi’s turf. The scorer collected a pass from Erick Masinza and slotted past Ochieng for a slim win for the visiting side.

Kakamega Homeboyz consequently moved to the fourth position with 21 points, while Ulinzi are 12th with 13 points.
