Kabando wa Kabando exudes confidence in Kenya’s win over Zambia
By Arnold Ngure, August 11, 2025Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has exuded confidence that Harambee Stars may as well triumph over Zambia in the Sunday, August 17, 2025, CHAN fixture at the Kasarani stadium.
In a statement on Monday, August 11, 2025, Kabando cited the winning mentality and the momentum gained from winning against Morocco as some of the factors that could contribute to a positive result.
“In limitless ways, #HarambeeStars triumphs #CHAN2024 epitomise Kenya’s optimistic spirit. The momentum gained after flooring a strong Morocco forecasts a big win against Zambia on Sunday. Go, go, unbeaten, Mashujaa Wetu Harambee Stars; victories inspire gigantic hope. Kudos!” Kabando stated.
On a roll
Harambee Stars have been on a roll with back-to-back results since the beginning of the tournament.

In one of their toughest fixtures over the weekend, the Stars took an early lead in the dying minutes of the first half after Ryan Ogam dribbled past defenders to fire a decisive shot into the back of the net.
While the Atlas Lions dominated possession throughout the game, their efforts to find the back of the net were successfully thwarted by Harambee Stars, who were determined to cling to the narrow lead.
Determined side
Not even a straight red card, which reduced the Kenyan players to 10 against the dominant Moroccan side, was able to offer any solace for the North Africans, who dropped all three points at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

“We were happy with that, and I couldn’t have asked for a better performance from the players. I am beyond proud about what the boys have done two games in a row,” Coach Benni McCarthy said in a post-match interview.
The Harambee Stars pulled off a gutsy 1-0 victory over tournament heavyweights Morocco at a packed Kasarani Stadium, sealing top spot in Group A of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in front of over 40,000 roaring fans.
Ryan Ogam’s 42nd-minute strike proved decisive, but the win came under intense pressure after midfielder Chrispine Erambo was shown a straight red card just before half-time for a dangerous tackle, the second time in as many games Kenya has had a player sent off.
The final whistle confirmed a famous win for Kenya, who move to seven points, being the Group A leaders.
