Harambee Stars and Tusker goalkeeper Patrick Matasi yesterday confirmed that he will join Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side Kenya Police.

Speaking to People Daily yesterday, the Kenya international was optimistic of his future with the star studded side.
“The deal is done, I am just waiting for Tusker chairman to sign my release letter and then am ready to join Kenya Police. I am supposed to have started training with them this Thursday,” Matasi confirmed.
Police who boast the services of a number of star players had initially lured him at the beginning of the season, an act that resulted in the custodian’s go slow when the Brewers failed to release him.
The 2019 Afcon participant in Egypt who is remembered for saving Africa’s great Sadio Mane’s penalty, had no other choice but to go back to the Ruaraka-based side, but still his heart lay at the CID training institute grounds on Mombasa Road.

“I am not growing any younger, the most important thing to any Kenyan footballer is to secure his future. I have tried playing professionally, but very few of us can be proud like Victor Wanyama.

My future is all I care about,” said the Kakamega County native.

During his time at AFC Leopards, Matasi managed seven clean sheets in a row during the 2012/2013 season before leaving for Posta Rangers with hopes of securing employment, but later moved to Tusker and later to Ethiopia’s St Georges before returning to the Robert Matano led side for the 2021/2022 season.

Now the 35-year-old is adamant that his future lies with the Policemen as he grows older and wiser in the local league.
