Hussein Mohammed rallies fans to FKF Premier League matches

Football Kenya Federation President Huseein Mohammed has called upon football enthusiasts in the country to transfer their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers energy in stadia to the Kenyan Premier League matches this season.

Taking to his X account on Thursday, September 11, 2025, the FKF chief also extended his gratitude to the passionate fans who have been turning up to support the national men’s football team, Harambee Stars, during the international fixtures in Nairobi.

”A massive thank you to the Harambee Stars fans for the incredible energy and support during the World Cup qualifiers! From the stands to the streets, you carried the team all the way.” Hussein Mohammed said.

After enjoying a one-month-long 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) in Nairobi, football lovers now shift focus to the 2025/2026 FKF Premier League season that commences on Saturday, September 20, 2025, across different venues in the country.

FKF Premier League key opening fixtures

Ahead of the new campaign, Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, and Shabana FC have been the top football clubs in the country, with massive crowds that have been lighting up the stadia in league matches. ”As the action now shifts back to our leagues, let’s bring the same passion to our clubs. Fill the stadiums, cheer your teams, and keep the spirit of Kenyan football alive!” Mohaamed added.

Meanwhile, Kenyan perennial rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards are among the teams that have learned of their opening-day Football Kenyan Federation opponents following the partial release of the upcoming 2025/26 league fixtures.

After enduring a 2-0 defeat to Tanzanian giants Simba SC on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in an international friendly on Simba Day, Gor Mahia now shift focus to the local league assignments. K’Ogalo will open their quest to recapture the league title at home against Bidco United on Sunday, September 21, 2025. The clash will be staged at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, and will kick off at 4:00 pm.

On their part, AFC Leopards will get their campaign underway on Saturday, September 20, 2025, against Ezekiel Akwana’s Sofapaka.
The clash will be staged at the Nyayo National Stadium from 4:00 pm.

In another fixture, League newbies APS Bomet will be visitors to the Gusii stadium to face Shabana FC on Sunday, August 21, 2025. The clash will kick off at 2:00 pm.
