Homeboyz, Ingwe upbeat over clash

Stakes continued to rise ahead of Saturday’s MozzartBet-FKF Cup semi-final between AFC Leopards and Kakamega Homeboyz.

Management of the two sides continued to exchange banters while hundreds of fans from the Western region made plans to travel to Nairobi to watch the ‘Ingo’ derby at Nyayo National Stadium at 3pm.

Homeboyz’s chairman Cleophas ‘Toto’ Shimanyula continued to hurl witty barbs at ‘Ingwe’ by promising victory for his lads. He, however, vowed to support  Leopards in the finals if they carry the day.

“We are preparing for the derby and we are confident of victory. We urge Leopards to support us and not cause trouble if we defeat them. We shall also do the same if they beat us,” he told the People Daily.

Ingwe’s fans from Kakamega County and other parts of Western Kenya, however, claimed they would not only win on Saturday but also go ahead to lift the trophy.
“Homeboyz are our younger brothers and we have nothing against them. We look forward to an entertaining match that we shall win and face either Tusker or Ulinzi in the finals,” said Faith Gitira, an official.
