Ulinzi Stars centre-back Boniface Muchika and head coach Bernard Mwalala rued missed opportunities from their Saturday’s two nil defeat at home to AFC Leopards and promised that Ulinzi Stars wouldl bounce back.

Speaking on Monday in Lang’ata, Nairobi, the defender was unfazed by the early hype of AFC Leopards topping the table with just one game played.

“ We need to look at our mistakes and learn from them. We still have more games to play this season, this one was just a learning experience,” said Muchika.

The four-time premier league champions opened their season on Saturday at their newly built Ulinzi Stars Complex, only to find the going tough with a new-look Leopards side who did not field 10 of their newly signed players.

Nigerian import Ojo Olaniyi Fassanmi scored twice to condemn the soldiers to a home defeat, something that did not impress the opponent’s head coach Bernard Mwalala.

“ Yes we made some mistakes, but I don’t think it was a match to lose. We also lost many chances and did not score, but the decisions made by the referee were also not just to us, especially that penalty,” said Mwalala who also added that in as much as he accepted that he lost, he did not agree with the referee’s decisions.

Ulinzi Stars who now are last on the log with no point, are scheduled to play against seventh placed Kariobangi Sharks in their next match on Sunday.

Their next opponents, who are coaches by William Muluya, has more than 60 per cent new players, and they kick started their season at the weekend with a two all draw against Talanta at Kasarani stadium.

Ulinzi Stars are eager to bounce back from that bitter to swallow Ingwe defeat and hope that Mwalala can rejuvenate the soldiers back to their winning ways and to a title contender side.
