Harambee Stars coach reveals travelling squad for Qatar match

Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat has unveiled the roster for their upcoming international friendly against Qatar scheduled for Thursday, September 7, 2023.
The squad comprises only six locally-based players, with the remaining 18 spots filled by foreign-based players.
Among the goalkeepers, Patrick Matasi returns to the squad, reuniting with Ian Otieno and Byrne Odhiambo.
Harambee Stars defenders
In the defence, Aboud Omar is the sole local-based player to make the cut. He joins the ranks of Brian Mandela and Joseph Okumu, who were sidelined due to injuries.
Joseph Omurwa is making a comeback, while the other defenders remain in the lineup.
The midfield sees the return of Kenneth Muguna, Ayub Timbe, Alfred Scriven, and Clarke Oduor, who missed the Four Nations tournament.
Moses Shummah and Masud Juma are the chosen forwards for the final squad.
The team is set to depart for Doha on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, departing at 1:25 a.m. They will have a chance to familiarize themselves with the playing field later in the afternoon in preparation for the match on Thursday.
Following the Qatar game, the team will return to Kenya on Friday, September 8, 2023, to continue their preparations for the match against South Sudan scheduled for Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
