Harambee Stars relish chance to face Africa’s best in Senegal clash
By Luke Oluoch, November 17, 2025Coach Anthony Modo Kimani has relished the prospect of pitting wits against Senegal, terming it a good opportunity for the players and members of the team’s technical bench.
Kenya will face the West African giants this Tuesday, November 18, 2025, days after falling to a narrow 1-0 loss to Equatorial Guinea in Antalya, Turkey.
“We have a lot to learn from the game, as the technical bench and the players do. It is an opportunity to play against the best in Africa. There will be a lot of learning moments, and it is a chance,” he stated.
The tactician maintained that the team heads into the clash eager to showcase their capabilities against the star-studded team.
“The team in camp is waiting for their big break, and show the world what they are made of,” he added.

Ahead of the clash, Kimani revealed that much of the team’s preparations were targeted at ending their profligacy in front of goal, a factor that came out to play in the defeat to Equatorial Guinea.
“The couple of days we have been working on how to get the ball at the back of the net. We have impressed on them the need for composure in front of the goal, and hopefully if they come against Senegal, we will do better,” he added.
Build up to AFCON 2027
The test matches are part of the broader preparations for the upcoming 2027 AFCON, where Kenya is set to host the continental spectacle after co-hosting the CHAN 2024 games.
Coach Benni McCarthy’s recent call ups was dominated by youthful players and Kimani believes the motive behind the call-ups is crucial to their long terms plans.
“The coach is keen on incorporating and integrating players who have shown they can add value to the team,” he added.
